Toshiba Regza Japan 85inch True QD-Mini LED 144Hz Gaming TV 85Z670RP

The Toshiba REGZA Z670RP is a premium QD-Mini LED 4K TV designed for customers who want significantly better contrast, stronger brightness, richer colour and more precise backlight control than ordinary LED or standard QLED televisions.

Powered by QD-Mini LED technology, REGZA Engine ZRi Gen3 and a Native 144Hz panel, the Toshiba Z670RP combines advanced picture quality, high-performance gaming and Toshiba REGZA’s Japanese picture-tuning expertise in one premium television.

For Malaysian customers searching for the best QD-Mini LED TV, best 144Hz gaming TV or premium Japanese TV in Malaysia, the Toshiba Z670RP is one of the strongest models to consider.

QD-Mini LED – The Biggest Upgrade in the Toshiba Z670RP

The most important feature of the Toshiba Z670RP is its QD-Mini LED display technology.

QD-Mini LED combines two major technologies:

Quantum Dot colour technology for a wider, richer and more accurate colour range.

Mini LED backlighting using much smaller LEDs to provide more precise brightness and backlight control across the screen.

Compared with ordinary LED TVs, QD-Mini LED allows the Toshiba Z670RP to produce:

Deeper blacks
Higher brightness
Better contrast
More precise local dimming
Improved HDR performance
Richer and more accurate colours

This is why QD-Mini LED is considered one of the most important premium TV technologies available today.

Not All “Mini LED” TVs Are the Same

Customers should not assume that every television carrying the words Mini LED delivers the same picture quality.

The performance of a QD-Mini LED TV depends heavily on:

Backlight control
Local dimming performance
Picture processing
Panel quality
Colour tuning
HDR processing

This is where Toshiba REGZA’s picture-processing experience becomes particularly important.

The Toshiba Z670RP does not depend on QD-Mini LED hardware alone. It combines its advanced backlight system with the REGZA Engine ZRi Gen3, allowing the television to analyse and optimise the picture in real time.

REGZA Engine ZRi Gen3

At the heart of the Toshiba Z670RP is the REGZA Engine ZRi Gen3.

This advanced picture-processing engine uses AI-based analysis together with Toshiba REGZA’s long-established picture-tuning expertise to optimise:

Brightness
Contrast
Colour
Sharpness
Depth
Motion
HDR reproduction

The combination of QD-Mini LED hardware and REGZA processing is what allows the Z670RP to produce a more refined and cinematic image instead of simply pushing excessive brightness or oversaturated colour.

Japan’s No.1 TV Brand

Toshiba REGZA is widely associated with Japanese television engineering and has achieved No.1 TV brand status in Japan.

That Japanese heritage is an important part of the Z670RP.

Toshiba REGZA televisions are developed around a philosophy of:

Designed by Japanese engineers
Fine-tuned by Japanese picture experts
Built around Japanese standards of picture and sound quality

Instead of focusing only on specifications, Toshiba places strong emphasis on how movies, sports, television programmes and games actually look to the human eye.

For customers who value Japanese electronics and picture tuning, the Toshiba Z670RP carries the heritage of one of Japan’s most recognised TV brands.

Japanese Craftsmanship & Picture Tuning

The Toshiba REGZA philosophy goes beyond hardware.

Toshiba’s Japanese engineers spend extensive time analysing different types of content, including movies, sports, television broadcasts and gaming, to fine-tune colour, contrast, motion and sound.

The goal is not simply to make an image brighter.

The goal is to reproduce the content with better realism, depth, texture and accuracy.

This combination of Japanese engineering, Japanese tuning and advanced QD-Mini LED technology is one of the key reasons the Toshiba Z670RP stands out among premium televisions in Malaysia.

Quantum Dot Colour – Over One Billion Colours

The Quantum Dot layer in the Toshiba Z670RP allows the television to reproduce a much wider range of colours compared with conventional LED televisions.

With over one billion colour shades, QD technology helps improve:

Skin tones
Natural landscapes
HDR movies
Sports broadcasts
Gaming graphics

Colours appear more vivid while maintaining better separation between similar shades.

Combined with Mini LED backlighting, this helps the Z670RP deliver the wider colour volume expected from a premium television.

Mini LED Backlight Control

Traditional LED TVs use larger LEDs behind the screen.

Mini LED technology uses significantly smaller LEDs, allowing the backlight to be divided into more precisely controlled areas.

This helps the Toshiba Z670RP create better separation between bright and dark objects.

For example, in a night scene with bright lights, the Mini LED backlight can keep the bright areas intense while keeping surrounding dark areas darker.

This results in better contrast and improved HDR impact.

Better Blacks and Reduced Blooming

One of the biggest weaknesses of ordinary LED televisions is light leakage around bright objects on dark backgrounds.

QD-Mini LED technology helps reduce this effect by providing more precise backlight control.

The result is:

Darker black areas
Improved shadow detail
Less visible blooming
More controlled highlights

This is especially noticeable when watching movies with dark scenes, subtitles, stars or bright objects against a black background.

Native 144Hz Panel

The Toshiba Z670RP features a Native 144Hz refresh rate, making it especially suitable for gaming, football, motorsports and other fast-moving content.

A higher native refresh rate allows more individual frames to be displayed every second.

This helps produce:

Smoother motion
Sharper fast-moving objects
Reduced motion blur
More responsive gaming

For customers comparing a 60Hz entry-level TV against the Toshiba Z670RP, the difference becomes particularly noticeable during gaming and sports.

High-Performance Gaming TV

The Toshiba Z670RP is built for serious gaming.

Its gaming features include:

Native 144Hz refresh rate
Variable Refresh Rate – VRR
AMD FreeSync Premium
Auto Low Latency Mode – ALLM
Game Mode Pro
REGZA AI Gaming
Game Deck

Together, these technologies help reduce screen tearing, input delay and stuttering.

For customers looking for a PS5 TV, Xbox gaming TV or 144Hz PC gaming TV in Malaysia, the Toshiba Z670RP is designed to handle high-frame-rate gaming.

AMD FreeSync Premium

AMD FreeSync Premium helps synchronise the TV refresh rate with compatible gaming hardware.

When frame rates change during gameplay, FreeSync helps reduce visible tearing and stuttering.

Combined with Native 144Hz and VRR, this creates a smoother and more consistent gaming experience.

VRR – Variable Refresh Rate

Variable Refresh Rate allows the Z670RP to dynamically adjust its refresh rate according to the frame rate produced by the gaming console or PC.

This helps prevent the TV and gaming device from becoming unsynchronised.

The result is smoother gameplay, especially in games where frame rates constantly change.

ALLM – Auto Low Latency Mode

With Auto Low Latency Mode, the Toshiba Z670RP can automatically switch into a lower-latency mode when compatible gaming equipment is detected.

This reduces unnecessary processing delay and improves controller responsiveness.

Game Deck

The Toshiba Game Deck gives gamers quick access to important gaming settings.

Instead of navigating through complicated menus, users can quickly check or adjust key gaming parameters while playing.

This makes the Z670RP more convenient for competitive and enthusiast gamers.

Dolby Vision & Advanced HDR

The Toshiba Z670RP supports premium HDR formats including:

Dolby Vision
HDR10+
HDR10
HLG

Combined with QD-Mini LED backlighting, HDR content can achieve stronger highlights, deeper shadow detail and improved colour volume.

This makes the Z670RP particularly suitable for high-quality Netflix, Disney+, streaming movies, 4K Blu-ray and HDR gaming.

Why QD-Mini LED Makes HDR Better

HDR performance depends heavily on a TV’s ability to display bright highlights and dark areas at the same time.

This is exactly where QD-Mini LED becomes important.

The smaller Mini LED backlights provide more precise brightness control, while Quantum Dot technology helps maintain strong colour at higher brightness.

The result is a more dramatic HDR image with:

Brighter highlights
Better black levels
Improved colour volume
Stronger image depth

AI 4K Clarity

Not all content is available in native 4K.

The Toshiba Z670RP therefore uses AI 4K Clarity to analyse lower-resolution sources and improve their appearance on the 4K screen.

This is especially useful for Malaysian households watching a mixture of:

Astro
YouTube
1080p streaming content
Older movies
Digital TV broadcasts

The REGZA processing engine improves detail, edges and image clarity to make lower-resolution content look cleaner on the large 4K display.

REGZA AI Picture

REGZA AI Picture analyses the image and optimises multiple picture parameters according to the content.

Rather than using one fixed picture setting for everything, the system intelligently adjusts picture characteristics to improve depth, clarity and realism.

When combined with QD-Mini LED, this helps create a more balanced picture across movies, sports, gaming and normal television programmes.

Dolby Atmos

The Toshiba Z670RP also supports Dolby Atmos.

Dolby Atmos provides a more immersive sound presentation by creating a greater sense of space around the viewer.

Compatible movies and games can therefore feel more cinematic compared with conventional stereo TV sound.

REGZA Power Audio

The Z670RP uses Toshiba’s REGZA Power Audio technology.

This system is designed to improve dialogue clarity, bass response and overall sound presence.

Combined with Dolby Atmos and REGZA AI Sound processing, the Z670RP offers a more complete entertainment experience without relying entirely on picture performance alone.

REGZA AI Sound

REGZA AI Sound automatically analyses the content and adjusts sound reproduction accordingly.

Different types of content require different audio characteristics.

Dialogue-heavy programmes, movies, sports and music therefore benefit from intelligent audio optimisation.

Premium TV for Movies, Sports and Gaming

The Toshiba Z670RP is not designed for only one type of customer.

For movie lovers, QD-Mini LED provides better contrast and HDR performance.

For sports fans, Native 144Hz improves motion clarity.

For gamers, VRR, FreeSync Premium, ALLM and Game Mode Pro provide smoother and more responsive gameplay.

For everyday family viewing, REGZA AI processing helps optimise different types of content automatically.
